A 61 year old man put himself at risk and broke his leg to save his Ducati motorbike from damage this afternoon on Brabazar road in Isando.
It is believed that the elderly man was traveling along Brabazar road when he hit an oil patch on the roadway. Fearing that he was going to fall he opted to put his leg out to try and stabilize the bike.
His leg was dragged under the bike and he sustained a fracture below the knee of the left leg. Even although he was in agony he managed to save the bike from any damage and only after he parked the bike on its stands he collapsed.
Netcare 911 paramedics arrived to find the elderly man lying on the road next to the pavement. After stabilizing the injured man he was transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
