Eight people were injured in a taxi accident one seriously so, although details of the accident are still speculative, according to eye witnesses the taxi was traveling along Charles drive in an easterly direction. The traffic lights at the intersection with Rupert street was red and another vehicle had stopped – the driver of the taxi realizing that he could not stop in time swerved, lost control and the vehicle hurtled of the roadway and collided into a tree.
Paramedics from Netcare 911 arrived on scene to find the patients next to the roadway not only battered and bruised but the severe weather also left them cold and wet. They were all treated on scene and then transported to a provincial hospital for further treatment.
