Exact details of the accident are still speculative, however the errant party ploughed into the side of the other vehicle in the intersection, injuring a total of 14 people. Netcare 911 paramedics and the emergency services were on scene within minutes of receiving the call, and on arrival were faced with total carnage.
Sadly the driver of the VW and his passenger died on scene due to the extensive injuries they had sustained. Eleven passengers from the taxi sustained relatively minor injuries while two was in a serious condition.
All the injured were stabilized on scene before they were transported by ambulance to a local provincial hospital for further treatment.
