3 injured in taxi accident in Bethlehem

3 Persons are injured, one critically in an accident on the road between Fouriesburg and Bethlehem in the Free State this afternoon just after four. Details of the accident are still under investigation, but it is purported that the taxi and a tractor pulling a trailer was traveling in the same direction, the taxi misjudged the speed of the tractor and ploughed into the back of the trailer.

Netcare 911 arrived on scene and after triaging, found that a female was still trapped in the mangled wreckage of the taxi and in a critical condition. Two other people sustained serious injuries.

Emergency services had to use the Jaws of Life to free the critically wounded female from the crumpled remains of the taxi, while paramedics worked fervently to stabilize the injured. All the patients were transported by ambulance to an area hospital in Bethlehem for further medical care .
