A 5 year old boy is fighting for his life in at the Charlotte Maxeke hospital in Johannesburg. He was found floating in a pool at a Boksburg residence this afternoon.
Events leading up to the child being in the pool is still a matter for police investigation, however the family found the 5 year old floating unresponsive in the pool. They called for an ambulance and within minutes the Netcare 911 paramedics arrived on scene .
Advanced life support resuscitation commenced and paramedics worked fervently to stabilize the 5 year old boy. He was placed on a ventilator and after several resuscitation drugs was given paramedics and bystanders were ecstatic when the child started responding.
The Netcare 1 medical helicopter with a specialized trauma team was called in and after they landed, the patient was loaded on board under constant care of a doctor. The child was airlifted to the Charlotte Maxeke hospital for further treatment .
