Man dies in Heidelberg accident

Two people sustained serious injuries and one died after their car was hit by an 18 wheeler truck at the intersection of the R556 and the M7 in Heidelberg this morning at around 09h39. Details of the accident is still speculative however it is alledged that the heavy goods vehicle was trying to overtake another car when he collided with a VW Jetta.

When Netcare 911 paramedics arrived on scene and found that bystanders had pulled three seriously injured occupants from the mangled wreckage and laid them at the roadside. One of the patients condition deteriorated and paramedics spent over an hour to resuscitate the critically wounded man.

Sadly the 45 year old died on scene due to the extent of his injuries, the two seriously injured patients were treated on scene and then transported to the Natalspruit hospital for further treatment.
