One person died and 14 others were injured in a 4 car pile-up on the N1 about 30 kilometers outside Colesburg towards Hanover. Details of the accident are still speculative however the vehicles appear to have been traveling in opposite directions when the accident occurred.
Netcare 911 paramedics arrived and after triaging the scene found that 14 people sustained relatively minor injuries. Tragically the driver of one of the vehicles died on scene due to the severe injuries he sustained. The man leaves behind his wife and a 2 year old child that was traveling in the car with him at the time of the accident.
All the patients were treated on scene and then transported to an area hospital in Colesburg for further medical care.
