It is believed that the vehicle with three occupants was traveling along the N 1 in the direction of Colesburg when tragedy struck. The driver lost control and the vehicle overturned and rolled several times. The mangled wreckage came to rest on a grassy area next to the roadway.
Netcare 911 paramedics arrived on scene and after triaging they found that one of the occupants sadly died on scene due to the severe injuries he sustained, another passenger was in a critical condition and a female sustained serious injuries.
Paramedics worked fervently to stabilize the wounded, and a medical helicopter was called in to airlift the critically injured patient to the Pelonomi hospital for further medical care. The seriously injured patient was transported to a local area hospital for further treatment.
