One person died and 4 others were injured in a roll over accident on the R 530 between Coligny and Hartbeesfontein near Klerksdorp today. Exact details of the accident is still speculative and a matter for police investigation , however it is purported that the driver lost control of his vehicle and overturned after negotiating a long downhill .
The crumpled remains of the vehicle came to rest several meters off he roadway .Netcare 911 paramedics arrived on scene to find that one of the passengers was ejected from the truck and landed under the mangled wreckage. Tragically the passenger died on scene due to the severity of his injuries. The driver and his assistant sustained serious injuries while the other two passengers miraculously escaped with only minor injuries.
Paramedics worked fervently to stabilise all the injured before transporting them to various hospitals in the area for further medical treatment. The roadway was closed for several hours while clean up operations and vehicle recovery took place.
