A side impact accident on the N1 south just outside Polokwane claimed the life of a teenage girl this afternoon at around half past six. According to an eye witness report the errant party was trying to make a U turn on the freeway when the other vehicle ploughed into its side and then overturned. The twisted remains of both vehicles came to rest some meters down the highway and obstructed the entire road.
Netcare 911 paramedics arrived on scene and after triaging the injured they found that a young teenage girl tragically died due to the extent of her injuries, while a further four people sustained serious injuries – one of them a 4 year old boy. Paramedics stabilised all the injured before transporting them to a private hospital in Polokwane for further medical care.
