Two critically injured in side impact accident in Roodepoort

Two people were critically injured when their truck hurtled out of control, “T” boned a car and then smashed through a brick wall. The crumpled remains of the truck finally came to rest against a house at the intersection of Ouklip and Ruhamal roads in the Albertein area of Roodepoort this morning at around 09h00. On impact the car was flung with such force into a garage that the walls crumbled and became unstable.

Netcare 911 paramedics arrived to find both drivers still trapped in the twisted metal of their vehicles. While firemen used the Jaws of Life to free the patients, paramedics worked fervently to stabilise them.

One of the critically injured patients had to be airlifted onboard Netcare 1 air ambulance to the Netcare Milpark hospital, while the other patient was transported by ambulance to the same hospital for further medical care.
