Four people were injured two seriously when two trucks collided along Wits Rifles road near the N17 in Germiston this morning at around 10h20. It is reported that the truck in the front was slowing down for as the traffic light that turned red, when another truck slammed into the back of him. The mangled remains of the back vehicle hurtled across the road and came to rest about 30 meters down the road.
Netcare 911 paramedics arrived on scene to find one person still trapped in the twisted metal of the truck. Two people were seriously injured while a further two sustained only minor injuries.
Firemen had to use the Jaws of Life to free the injured from the wreckage while paramedics worked fervently to stabilise all the wounded. All the patients were transported to various hospitals for further medical treatment.
