A total of 36 out of 44 software technicians quit the electronic National Traffic Information System (eNatis), Rapport newspaper reported on Sunday.

The technicians had left Tasima, which operates eNatis, at the end of February, company spokesperson Philip van der Merwe confirmed.

The eNatis programme manages the country’s driver and vehicle permit systems, among others.

The resignations follow the withdrawal from the project of Face Technologies, previously the main contractor that developed and managed the programme.

“A specialist transition manager has implemented a three-month transition plan to prevent the loss of general expertise,” Van der Merwe said.
