Fourteen people were injured, two seriously, when the minibus taxi they were travelling in collided head-on with a bus on the M35 near Philani Valley in Umbumbulu today.
It is thought that the minibus had been attempting to overtake another slow moving vehicle and had pulled into the oncoming lane. The bus driver unable to avoid the taxi and collided with it.
The injured were treated and stabilised at the scene by Netcare911 Paramedics before they were transported by ambulance to the Prince MâShiyeni Memorial Hospital in Umlazi for further care.
In another incident three men were injured, two seriously, when a bakkie collided with a light motor vehicle and a heavy goods truck on the N2 Durban bound carriageway on Umbongintwini Hill.
It is thought the bakkie had been travelling south when the driver swerved to avoid another car. The bakkie mounted the Armco barrier separating the north and south lanes and collided with the truck and car before flipping onto its roof.
The three occupants of the bakkie were treated by Netcare911 Paramedics at the scene before they were transported by ambulance to hospital.
