Woman injured in Amanzimtoti rollover

amanzimtoti1

A woman was seriously injured when the bakkie she was travelling overturned on the N2 north bound carriageway on Umbongintwini Hill outside Amanzimtoti on Friday morning.

It is thought that the vehicle had been travelling towards Durban when the driver swerved to avoid colliding with a slow moving vehicle in the fast lane. The bakkie collided with the roadside Armco barrier before rolling onto its side.

The driver managed to clamber from the car and was found waiting at the roadside by Netcare911 Paramedics. A woman was still in the bakkie and was carefully extricated by Netcare911 Paramedics. She had sustained serious injuries and was treated and stabilised at the scene by medics before she was transported by ambulance to the Netcare St Augustine’s Hospital in Durban for further care.

Traffic on the north bound carriageway was obstructed while emergency service personnel cleared the scene.
