A man is lucky to be alive after he collided into the side of a heavy goods vehicle tonight just after 20:00 on the R25 near the Witkoppies off ramp. It is purported that the heavy goods truck came out of a side road and crossed the R25 in front of an on coming car. The driver of the vehicle was unable to stop and slammed into the side of the truck , the twisted remains of his vehicle came to rest pinned under the trailer just in front of the back wheels.
Netcare 911 paramedics was flabbergasted when they arrived on scene and found that the man escaped from the mangled wreckage with only moderate injuries. After the patient was stabilised he was transported by the provincial ambulance service to a hospital in Kempton Park for further treatment.
