- Truck Accident South of Bloemfontein
A mother believed to be in her 20’s, and her baby believed to be one year old, was killed this morning in a horror truck accident on the N1 approximately 40km outside of Bloemfontein.
It is understood that a truck carrying a load of tyres crashed into the back of another truck on the N1 towards Cape Town.
When paramedics arrived on the scene they found the two trucks severely mangled. The mother and her baby believed to be passengers in the rear truck was found dead with multiple injuries. Two other occupants of the rear truck sustained only minor injuries and was assessed on the scene.
The driver of the front truck also sustained minor injuries and was assessed on the scene.
It is not clear what caused the accident. The local authorities will investigate.
