Patient Airlifted To Hospital After Accident

A man to be in his early thirthies is in a critical condition, another eleven sustained serious injuries and thirteen sustained minor to moderate injuries after a taxi accident on the N2 and Baden Powell Drive in the direction of Somerset West this afternoon.

Emergency personnel arrived on the scene to find mass injuries. Emergency personnel started treating the patients for various injuries on the scene. some patients were able to walk to the ambulance while others needed specialised equipment to help protect their heads and backs. They were stabilised on the scene and transported to various hospitals in the area.

One patient who was in a critical condition had sustained severe traumatic injuries and needed advanced life support intervention. The patient was intubated and placed on a manual ventilator before being airlifted by ER24 Discovery Medicopter to Tygerberg Hospital in a critical condition.

The cause of the accident is unclear but the necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
