A driver and two passengers have sustained serious injuries after the truck they were in left the road and went down a hundred meter embankment before coming to rest on its side this morning. The incident took place on the R13 coming down in the vicinity of Polly Shorts.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to be informed by members of the public that the driver was still situated by the truck while the other two passengers had managed to climb up to the road. While paramedics stabilised the two passengers, advanced life support paramedic made her way down to the wreckage to start treatment on the driver. The driver who was found outside the wreckage had sustained a possible fractured leg and neck and spinal injuries.

Advanced Life Support intervention was performed before the man was stabilised further and carried up by means of specialised equipment. The remaining two passengers were treated for neck and spinal injuries and minor abrasions. All three patients were transported to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment.

It is believed that the truck may have had mechanical problems causing the driver to lose control. The necessary authorities were on the scene would be investigating the accident.
