Two pedestrians died in a hit-and-run in Grassy Park, Cape Town, on Sunday morning, Western Cape paramedics said.

The driver, a 24-year-old man from Plumstead, hit the man and woman in Strandfontein road at 01:00, said Netcare 911 spokesperson Lauren Copley.

She said the motorist drove a kilometre from the scene before stopping to remove one of the bodies, which was still on his car.

A witness to this called the police, who arrested the man about 6km from the accident scene.

He would appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of culpable homicide and drunken driving.
