A thirty three-year-old armed response officer was injured after the vehicle he was driving overturned and hit a lamppost, on the corners of Third Avenue and Smith Street, in Parow.

Bystanders alleged that the armed response car had to swerve to miss another car that jumped a stop-street. The armed response car then overturned on its side and hit a lamppost. Bystanders pushed the car back on its wheels so the armed response officer could get out the vehicle.

When paramedics arrived on the scene the patient was lying on the sidewalk and bystanders were reassuring the man and keeping him warm. The patient was treated for possible spinal injuries due to the significant damage of the vehicle and was transported to a nearby hospital.
