Construction Workers Injured After Truck Over Turns

hammersdale-30-july-2010-4

Two construction workers were injured after the truck they were travelling in over turned on a dirt road near Hammersdale Main road this afternoon.

ER24 along with VEMA arrived on the scene to find the truck lying on its side, blocking the dirt road and the two construction workers were found a few meters away lying on the embankment.

They were assessed by paramedics and treated for possible neck and back injuries. The passenger was complaining of pain to his shoulder region and was given pain medication. They were stabilised on the scene and transported to Life Entabeni Hospital for further medical care.

It is believed that the construction workers had just loaded the truck with concrete pipes and were transporting them to the top of the road were construction was taking place. Somehow the weight of the pipes shifted and caused the truck to overturn while they were going up the dirt road. Both driver and passenger were lucky that they did not suffer any serious injuries.
