Crucial Evidence might be missing in Doc’s drunk driving case

Crucial evidence in soccer legend Doctor Khumalo’s drunken driving case has gone missing – and his blood samples may have been tampered with, reports The Sowetan.

Khumalo’s lawyer, Johan Pretorius, told the Roodepoort magistrate’s court on Tuesday that a form that should contain Khumalo’s signature, that of the doctor who examined him and Metro police officer Steven Molise, who attended the scene, was not in the docket.

“Khumalo’s blood samples may have been tampered with,” he said. “The blood sample analyst informed me that when he received samples, there was no form attached to it.”

Yesterday, Molise told the court that Khumalo was not drunk but smelt of alcohol.

He faces charges of drunken, reckless and negligent driving after he was involved in an accident near the Maraisburg Road off-ramp in May 2008. He allegedly collided with a taxi taking three women to work. One of them was eight months pregnant. There were no fatalities.
