Pedestrians killed in N2 Bridge plunge

Two pedestrians were killed when they were struck by a spinning car on the N2 south bound carriageway on the Umkomaas River Bridge this morning.

While what transpired remains unclear, it is alleged that three cars had collided while travelling south. The vehicles spun-out and veered towards the pedestrians who were walking at the roadside near the railing.

It would appear that one of the people was struck by a car while the other jumped over the railing to avoid being hit. The two plunged to their deaths and the occupants of the cars were uninjured.

Police Search and Rescue officers will be recovering the bodies of the two.
