Four people were killed this morning in Kragbron on the R82 near Sasolburg when a truck apparently collided head on with their vehicle.
Paramedics arrived shortly before 12:00 on the horror incident with the truck lying on its side. On further inspection paramedics found a BMW that was ripped apart with three occupants dead inside of it. A forth person was found lying a few meters away from the vehicle. It is believed that all the occupants were between 25 and 40 years of age.
Bystanders explained to paramedics on the scene that it appeared as if the trucked swerved for a vehicle and collided head on with the BMW. The 18-wheeler truck carrying mud overturned during the accident. The driver of the truck sustained moderate injuries and was treated by ER24 paramedics on the scene.
Traffic is severely affected on the R82 between Sasolburg and Koppies as debris is scattered on the road’s surface. The exact cause of the incident will be investigated.
