Off Duty Policeman Crashes Into Cows

er_banner7
A off duty policeman and his wife were injured in the late part of yesterday evening after the bakkie they were travelling in collided into two cows that had strayed into the road near Hammersdale.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the two cows about 10m apart lying up against the verge. The bakkie was found on the other side of the road with the front complete smashed inwards.

The driver who was the police officer was treated for minor injuries, while his wife was treated for possible neck and back injuries. She was placed on a specialised board before both were transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care.

It is believed that the couple were on their way home when the accident occurred on the main road near Hammersdale. The location of the accident was rather dark, making visibility really difficult.

Due to the injuries that the cows had suffered, they had to be put down by the local SPCA authorities on the scene.
