School Boy Knocked Down in Pietermaritzburg

picture-0051A fifteen year old school boy was knocked down by a light motor vehicle this morning on Copesville Main road just outside Pietermaritzburg.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the young boy seated on the pavement been treated by members of public. The paramedics assessed the patient and found that he had suffered a laceration to his head and possible neck and back injuries. He was stabilised and transported to Northdale Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

It is believed that the young boy crossed the road but did not see the vehicle coming down from the other side. The driver tried to veer off the road to miss him but caught him on the driver side bumper. The driver was treated for shock but did not need hospital treatment.
