A woman believed to be twenty three sustained serious injuries after a concrete block went through the windscreen of the motor vehicle and landed on her lap, while she was travelling on the N3 west bound between Sherwood and Spaghetti junction, late yesterday evening.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the patient in the passenger seat, with the concrete block still on her lap. She had sustained serious injuries and needed advanced life support intervention. She was stabilised and was taken out of the car using specialized equipment before being transported to a nearby hospital in a serious condition.

As paramedics arrived at the hospital, the patient started to deteriorate. The trauma staff stabilised the patient further and rushed her to surgery. Unfortunately the patient passed away due to extensive internal injuries.

It is believed that the concrete block had been thrown from an over head bridge that runs over the N3 between Sherwood and Spaghetti junction.
