A man in his mid twenties has died on the N1 highway early this morning. It is unclear as to how exactly the incident took place, but when ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene the man was laying in the middle of the highway directly under the R300 overpass.
Local law enforcement authorities were at the scene and the N1 was later also closed for traffic. The man had sustained severe trauma to his entire body and was later declared dead at the scene. The man had allegedly jumped from the R300 overpass onto the highway. The police had also discovered his abandoned vehicle on the highway above from where the body was found. An ID document was found in one of the deceased’s pockets and was used to identify the body.
Fortunately nobody else was injured in the incident as the body on the N1 highway could have easily caused further accidents. The incident will be investigated by the appropriate authorities.
