8 die in accidents in Western Cape

Eight people, including a two-year-old baby, died in two separate accidents in the Western Cape, the province’s traffic officials said on Monday.

Six people were killed when their minibus taxi’s tyre burst on the Aberdeen Road, outside Beaufort West, and overturned.

Two people were seriously injured while four others suffered minor injuries in the accident at about 22:00 on Sunday.

In Gouda on the R44 in the Boland, two people, including a two-year-old child, were killed when their minibus taxi overturned after its tyre burst in the early evening on Sunday.

Two others were seriously injured and six others were slightly injured in the crash.
