Paramedics believe that the man in his thirties was taking his new bike for a drive when he allegedly lost control.
The incident happened on the service road off Marine Drive in Paarden Island at approximately 2pm. Witnesses to the accident said that it seems that the man lost control of the bike, crashed into the roadside barrier, and then fell off the bike. The bike then skidded for a further 50 meters.
A bystander, believed to be a Doctor, initiated CPR on the scene after the man stood up and promptly collapsed. As ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene, the man was already deceased, and there was nothing more that could be done for him.
There were no other vehicles involved in the accident.
