Pre Christmas fun on Dirt Bikes turn out Bad for One Gentleman

snipimage168
A pre Christmas day of fun on some dirt bikes turned out badly for two friends in the suburb of Parklands in Cape Town this afternoon. Shortly before noon the two friends were racing their dirt bikes on some sandy fields near Big Bay. One of the motorcyclists allegedly lost control of the bike whilst going over a dune at some speed. The gentleman then landed awkwardly and was unable to get up after the fall.

When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene the two dirt bikers had called in the help of a friend with a bakkie. Due to the terrain consisting of mainly loose gravel and sand the paramedics had to plan smartly as to how to get the gentleman to the ambulance which was unable to reach the scene.

After stabilizing the patient at the scene he was transported out of the sandy terrain on the load bed of the bakkie. Once at the ambulance the patient was transported to a nearby hospital in a stable condition. He had sustained significant injuries to his left leg.
