er_banner21
A fifteen year old female is in a serious condition after being wedged by a truck into an Armco barrier on Church Street crossing the N3 freeway, heading towards Northdale, Pietermaritzburg this morning.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the woman lying in the road near the front of the truck. The young female who was awake, was in severe pain. Paramedics assessed the patient and found that she had suffered a broken arm and leg. The patient also suffered a head injury and needed advanced life support intervention. The patient was placed on a specialised board to help protect her head and spine. She was transported to Greys Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

It is believed that the young lady teenager was walking across the bridge when the truck tried to move out of the way for a light motor vehicle but accidently wedged the patient into the Armco barrier.

The necessary authorities were on the scene and would be investigating the incident further.
