Medi-Clinic Corporation extends foothold in Emirates

snipimage161Medi-Clinic Corporation’s Middle East platform, Emirates Healthcare Limited (EHL), has entered into collaboration with Emaar Properties PJSC on its healthcare portfolio. Emaar Properties PJSC is a Dubai-based Public Joint Stock Company that is part of the Dow Jones Arabia Titans Index.

As part of the agreement, which took effect on 15 January, 2011, EHL will operate The Dubai Mall Medical Centre as well as the Arabian Ranches Clinic and Meadows Clinic that have been developed by Emaar Properties, a pioneer of the concept of master-planned communities. EHL will also acquire all the assets of the three clinics.

Chairman of Medi-Clinic Corporation, Dr Edwin Hertzog, commented that the agreement demonstrates the valuable opportunities of the region; “Medi-Clinic has experienced positive growth in its Middle East operations and EHL has established itself as a brand that is associated with high quality healthcare. The association with a property development market leader such as Emaar Properties PJSC confirms our standing as a prominent player”.

According to Mohamed Alabbar, chairman of Emaar Properties PJSC, the venture forms part of the company’s long term strategy of concentrating on its core competencies of creating premium real estate developments in key emerging markets across the world; “We will continue our emphasis on business and geographic expansion, while exploring partnership opportunities with proven specialists to bring greater value efficiencies to our operations.Emirates Healthcare Limited has demonstrated its competencies in delivering world-class healthcare, and we are confident that our agreement will further establish healthcare assets in our communities as among the most efficient healthcare providers in the region”, he noted.

These sentiments were echoed by David Hadley, CEO of EHL; “EHL has access to a wealth of combined expertise and the shared knowledge of internationally qualified healthcare experts. We have proven our excellence in providing superior standards of medical care and also recorded a revenue growth of 27 per cent since 2009”.

He added that the three clinics are the embodiment of the EHL vision of private healthcare delivery; “this move provides us with a fantastic opportunity to be able to maintain and build upon our high level of patient care. We are proud to be associated with the Emaar brand and are confident that the quality standards of both our organisations complement each other. EHL will introduce systems to enhance operational efficiencies as well as strengthen healthcare standards further”.
