A serious collision occurred this morning on the corners of Symphony and Stellenbosch Arterial in Belhar. A medium sized refrigerated delivery truck allegedly collided with the side of a small hatchback sedan. The impact was immense and paramedics were astonished to see the severity of damage sustained by the hatchback sedan.
When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene Metro Rescue and ambulance services including Fire and rescue services were already attending to the scene. The front passenger of the sedan received the full force of the impact as the collision was on the left side of the vehicle. She was declared dead at the scene. The driver was removed from the vehicle and emergency personnel quickly established that he was not breathing and had no pulse.
He was then placed in the back of an ambulance where paramedics immediately started with CPR. The man’s injuries were severe and unfortunately paramedics were unable to revive the man. He was then declared dead at the scene. The appropriate authorities will be investigating the incident.
