The nephew of former Springbok rugby player, Kobus Wiese, has died, and his brother has been seriously injured after a tyre burst on their car and it overturned.
The accident happened on Sunday afternoon as they travelled from Dullstroom to Johannesburg.
Campbell Wiese, 5, was thrown from the Toyota Fortuner and was declared dead at the scene.
“His body was found about five metres from the car wreck,” said former Springbok Christiaan Scholtz, a family friend.
Campbell’s father, Cornel Wiese, 40, was admitted to the Muelmed Hospital in Pretoria with serious injuries and there is a concern he may be paralysed.
“He broke vertebrae in his back, and was operated on, on Sunday.”
“There is also bruising to his spinal cord and extensive swelling to his back and neck”.
