Road Safety website partners in development of online mining safety portal

The ArriveAlive.co.za road safety website has partnered in the development of an online information portal aimed at enhancing safety in the mining industry.

The Development of the Miningsafety.co.za information portal has been inspired by the close cooperation between the ArriveAlive.co.za website and safety officers from several of the mines in South Africa. During the development of the road safety portal the developers rendered assistance to several mining companies in creating awareness of safety aspects such as safe transportation, driver fatigue, overloading etc.

Regular interaction between the Development Team of ArriveAlive.co.za and safety consultants at the mining companies confirmed that there is a need for an information portal not only focused on safe transportation for mining companies, but also to create awareness of other aspects of mining safety.

It is the vision of the developers of Miningsafety.co.za that the website will facilitate increased interaction between mines and the sharing of knowledge between safety officers and consultants. During the past few years the Accidents Blog, a partner site of the Arrive Alive online initiative, has given exposure to many news stories related to mining accidents.

The objective with the launch of Miningsafety.co.za is to not only share information and reports on accidents, but rather to share information and advice that could make a significant contribution towards protecting our mining workers from injury and loss of life.

Miningsafety.co.za will be developed in close cooperation with the mining industry and leaders in the manufacturing of safety equipment.

The developers have extended an invitation to all role players in the mining industry and safety experts to participate in this initiative and to share their suggestions and advice on how to further enhance the objective of greater health and safety in the mining industry!
