Umhlanga woman wins car in PG Glass road safety competition

With her are Mick Walters (co-owner of PG Glass Umhlanga), Mark Mountjoy (national network director of PG Glass), Bernice Bailey (marketing director of the PG Group) and Steve Walters (co-owner of PG Glass Umhlanga).

Umhlanga Rocks resident Dumi Mahaye won a brand-new Volkswagen in PG Glass’ Sizzling Summer promotion that was part of the company’s year end campaign to promote road safety.

Bernice Bailey, Marketing Director of the PG Group, says the campaign focused amongst other on the importance of windscreens as safety factor in vehicles. PG Glass launched the campaign to encourage the driving public to ensure that the windshields of their vehicles are in perfect order for safe holiday trips.

She says Shatterprufe windscreens, which are expertly fitted by PG Glass service centres countrywide are made with only virgin vinyl to provide more protection than those made with recycled vinyl.

“This could save your life, as could the correct fitment of the windscreen. A badly fitted windscreen can cause you or a passenger to be thrown out of the car when the windscreen pops out in case of an accident.”

Bailey also warned that a substandard windscreen can cause optical illusions that could impact negatively on a driver’s judging of distances while driving, or can cause optical distortion that could increase eye fatigue and cause headaches while driving.

“All PG Group products are backed by world class quality standards to ensure optimum safety for the consumer,” Bailey says.

Mahaye replaced her vehicle’s windscreen at PG Glass Umhlanga Ridge in November last year. The car will also be fitted with LLumar safety film to improve protection in case of a smash-and-grab attack. The shattered glass sticks to the film when it is broken. This feature also protects passengers against flying glass in case of a side-impact collision.

To top it all the winner will also attend an advanced driving course sponsored by PG Glass.
