12 Commuters Injured In Crash outside Waterfall

Twelve commuters were injured after two taxis collided into one another on Fisher Road just outside Waterfall this afternoon.

ER24 and VEMA were the amongst the first emergency personnel to arrive on the scene and found that one taxi had crashed through a fence and had come to rest up against the corner of a house, while the second taxi was a few meters away and had crashed into a tree.

Commuters from both taxis were found seated outside the vehicles and needed medical attention. Three patients had suffered possible neck and back injuries, with massive lacerations to their arms and face. Advanced life support intervention had to be performed before they could be placed on a specialised board and taken to hospital. The remaining nine commuters were assessed and found that they had minor abrasions and bruises. All patients were transported to various hospitals in the area for further medical care.

It is unclear who was at fault in this collision but Metro Police were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
