Two people have been killed and another 4 seriously injured after a single vehicle accident.
It is not clear as to how the driver of the vehicle lost control, but the vehicle rolled on the N7 near the Plattekloof road offramp in the direction of the N1. All 6 of the people in the hatch back were ejected from the vehicle and found lying in the road.
ER24 paramedics immediately assessed the patients and found that two of the people had sustained fatal injuries and were declared deceased at the scene. A woman in her 30s was in a critical condition, having sustained a possible severe head injury. The paramedics immediately activated the ER24 Discovery Medicopter and the patient was airlifted to Tygerberg Hospital.
A 9 year old boy also sustained critical injuries and needed immediate advanced life support treatment. The boy was taken to the Red Cross children’s hospital for treatment.
The other 2 patient sustained moderate to serious injuries, and were treated on scene before being taken to hospital.
The police attended the scene and would be conducting all necessary investigations into the accident.
