Truck Accident Closes N12 Outside Kimberley

An articulated truck travelling on the N12 direction of Cape Town overturned about 30km outside Kimberley this afternoon, leaving the driver and conductor with minor injuries.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the articulated truck lying on its side partially blocking the freeway. The fuel from the truck was leaking and pouring onto the N12. This was detained by emergency personnel on the scene. The patients were found walking around on scene. They were assessed and found that they had suffered very minor cuts and bruises and were transported to Kimberley Hospital for further medical care.

It is believed that the driver moved out of the way of a vehicle that had come into his lane. The articulated truck went into the gravel on the side of the road and the driver lost control, causing the truck to overturn.

The N12 is still closed to traffic due to this accident.
