Bus Accident in Roodepoort Leaves 22 Injured

A bus accident in Roodepoort has left 22 people injured.

ER24 paramedics from Johannesburg West were called to the N14 at the Oaktree Street crossing after there were reports of a bus that had collided into a wall. When paramedics arrived at the scene, most of the occupants of the bus were found to be walking around at the scene. The wall surrounding the residence had been completely destroyed by the bus. Fortunately no one in the house had been injured

There had been approximately 30 people in the bus at the time of the accident. The paramedics quickly assessed all of the patients and it was found that 4 of the occupants had sustained moderate to serious injury while a further 18 people had sustained minor injuries. The patients were all stabilised and treated on scene before being loaded into waiting ambulances.

All 22 of the patients were taken to local hospitals in the surrounding area.

It is not clear what caused the accident, but the bus crashed through the t-junction and into the wall. It is believed that heavy mist in the area this morning may have played a part in the accident.
