Motorists travelling in Boksburg on Gauteng’s East Rand were warned to stay away from the R21 south after the Griffiths Road exit on Tuesday afternoon.
This after a truck carrying diesel hit a barrier on the road causing a spill on the freeway.
Ekurhuleni metro police spokesperson Mveli Nhlapo has urged motorists to be patient while officials clean the area.
He said the road will be closed for around one hour.
