Four Killed in Two Truck Accidents


In the early hours of this morning paramedics from ER24 were called to a serious accident on the Villiers Road near the Vaal Marina where a truck and a car collided head on.

Paramedics found a car completely mangled at the front end of the truck. One woman was found dead in the vehicle and two other people with multiple injuries. No one was injured in the truck.

In another truck accident on the R59 near the Sasolburg and Wonderfontein crossing this afternoon left three people dead. Two of them were children believed to be between the ages of seven and twelve years old. A woman was also killed in this accident.

Two children believed to be between four and seven years old were in a critical condition when paramedics got to the scene. A woman was also found with serious injuries.

Bystanders explained that all of the children and women were in a Mazda 3 when a truck collided with them at the intersection. A third vehicle was also involved in this accident. No one sustained any injuries in this vehicle.

Paramedics initiated Advanced Life Support and rushed the critically injured woman and children to a nearby hospital for further medical management.

The cause of these accidents is not yet known and will be investigated.
