MEC welcomes decline in Easter road deaths in Western Cape

Western Cape Community Safety MEC Albert Fritz welcomed the steady decline in the Easter weekend road death toll on Tuesday.

Three fatalities were recorded in the province this year compared to the nine recorded in 2010.

Fritz praised motorists for adhering to the rules of the road.

“When they were stopped at road blocks they were very, very cooperative. Three of them were irritated that they were inconvenienced but most of them understand our campaign to secure our roads and make it safer for everyone,” he said.
