Vehicle plummets fifty meters down embankment in Leansia

A serious motor vehicle collision occurred this morning on the K43 road in Lenasia.

A male driver believed to be aged 44 rounded a corner before allegedly losing control of the vehicle causing it to overturn multiple times. The vehicle eventually came to a standstill in wetlands approximately 50 meters away from the road.

When ER24 Paramedics arrived at the scene they found the driver in the field a few meters away from the wrecked vehicle. The man was conscious and told on scene paramedics that he was ejected from the vehicle. The man had sustained severe injuries to his lower extremities and needed to be transported to a hospital rapidly. Paramedics then promptly dispatched a Medicopter to the scene to airlift the man to hospital.

Whilst waiting for the Medicopter to land at the scene, paramedics had to battle an uphill climb in rough terrain to carry the injured patient to a open space where the Medicopter would land.
