Please respect the disabled and disabled parking zones!!

A person with a disability shared a photo of a delivery vehicle parked on a disabled parking zone in Bloemfontein. We would like to request road users to obey the rules of the road at all time – and make a special plea to road users respect the parking needs of the disabled!

How can the disabled obtain Disabled Parking Disks?

If you have a disability, you can apply for a disabled parking disc from the municipality. This disc allows you to park in allocated disability parking bays and exempts you from parking provisions in certain circumstances.

To qualify for a disabled parking disc you need to have a letter from your doctor confirming that:

Certain local authorities require the doctor to complete a section of the form, so the form needs to be collected beforehand. Please contact your local traffic department to confirm whether you require a doctor’s letter or a form.

If you receive a disabled parking disc, you need to display the disc clearly in your windscreen.

Please note that the disabled parking disc issued by any local authority may not automatically be recognised by any other local authority.
