Three year old seriously injured in hit and run collision

A serious incident occurred this afternoon when a three year old boy sustained severe injuries in a hit and run collision in Elsies River.

A male family member of the boy was allegedly carrying the three year old across the road when a Toyota Tazz collided with them. The collision was severe as it caused the boy to be catapulted twenty meters trough the air. The family member sustained only minor injuries in the incident.

The boy had collided with the sidewalk and was not breathing and had no pulse. Local law enforcement authorities from Elsies River arrived at the scene and a constable with medical training immediately started CPR on the injured boy.

When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene they took over the resuscitation efforts from the policeman. After fifteen minutes the child regained a pulse. The child had sustained a suspected back injury and was transported to the Red Cross Children’s hospital where he was admitted in a stable yet serious condition.

Local law enforcement authorities who were at the scene will be investigating the hit and run further.
