A pedestrian has been left with critical injuries after he was knocked down on Rivonia Road just before Witkoppen Drive this morning.
The details surrounding the exact cause of the incident remain unclear, but it is suspected that the young man was getting out of a taxi when he was knocked by another vehicle. The impact to his body was so severe that as paramedics arrived at the scene, they needed to take over the man’s vital functions. He was placed on manual ventilation and the ER24 Discovery Medicopter was called in.
The man, believed to be in his early 20’s, had sustained critical head, chest and other internal injuries and was airlifted to the Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital in Johannesburg.
No other injuries were reported at the scene.
