A truck allegedly trying to negotiate a bend in Toronto Road allegedly struck a 21 year old girl that was on the roadside, causing her such severe injuries that she died on the scene.
The large load bed truck was transporting metal pylons when the incident happened. The nature of the girls injuries suggest that one of the pylons on the back of the truck may have struck the girl’s head, causing her to be whipped into the air, landing on the road a short distance from the back of the truck.
When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene, the girl had already succumbed to severe head injuries and she died at the scene.
None of the occupants of the truck were injured.
A full police investigation into the incident will determine what actually transpired leading to the death of the young woman.
